Maybe you have read the books, or maybe you have watched the TV show, Game of Thrones. This story is set in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, but does not follow same story line to avoid collision with future episodes or books.
Guideline #1 - No canon characters from the books or series.
I want this game to be solely run on the whims and desires of player made characters, so while the world and setting are going to be very similar in nature, there will be differences, there will be famous houses from the books and TV series missing, and there will be no canon characters to play and/or lose at the whims of the book/tv show writers.
Guideline #2 - Rulers of the Major Houses must be applied for.
I am keeping all the kingdoms, their places, keep names, etc, but the families who rule them and the history of that family is up to you, the players to decide.
If you want to take one of the houses, let Loki know the name of the character that will be ruling the house.
There are also Minor houses that may pledge fealty to the greater houses. If you want to forge a minor house, get with one of the players managing a greater house and work it out with them.
Guideline #3 - No magic.
I want to avoid any solid magic. If you want to play a Red Priest/Priestess who does things that may or may not be magic, that is ok - such as burning someone at the stake to win a battle, which the character may then win or lose. It should be vague if whatever they did was actually magic or not and up for interpretation. I don't want a bunch of shadow assassins running around.
Guideline #4 - No dragons.
All the dragons are dead. They've been dead for 100 years.
Guideline #5 - Consider character death
In honor of GRRM's willingness to kill our most beloved characters, try to keep an open mind about killing a character for story purposes. Character death is always up to the owner of the character and will not be mandatory.
Setting
Balthier Blackfyre, King of Westeros was found dead recently. With no living heirs and no right of succession, the person who will sit upon the Iron Throne is yet unclear. Called before the king, just before the King's dead, Auron Renaaryen, Hand of the King, has been declared Lord Regent until the rightful king can be crowned. However, news has spread that Lord Renaaryen has fled Kings Landing, returning to the Vale, and does not wish to sit on the Iron Throne, even in the interim.
Now is a time of alliances, betrayal, lies and promises with one prize to the victor: The Iron Throne. With no clear line of succession, many different claims to the throne are being made, from the most powerful of the noble houses, down to those of non-noble blood.
